Behind the Barn Door: The 2015 Show Season

As the first half of the 2015 show season comes to an end, the Windwood Equestrian Farm (WEF) riders have had a great season thus far! The season has seen growing families: Christine McClurkin with the purchase of Mogidashu; Emma Smith with the lease of Farnley Belle; Melissa Welch with the purchase of Blame It On Vegas; and Ava Messer with the purchase of Just A Peanut.

It’s been a season of learning and growing as many of the longtime students advanced in their divisions. Windwood Equestrian Farms students have excelled in their classes under the instruction of Jill Dean, 2014 AHJA Trainer of the Year. Her students are ranked as some of the top riders in the state in the Alabama Hunter Jumpers Association. “Perfect practice makes perfect” is Jill’s philosophy. It’s not about the ribbons, but about getting into the show ring and doing your very best.

Equestrians Izzi Simpson and Melissa Welch recently showed at the USEF show in Conyers, GA. Melissa stepped up and won first place in Long Stirrup/US. Izzi brought home top honors in the Children’s Hunter 2’6” classes. We are so proud of all of our riders!

We are looking forward to a great second-half of the show season as the WEF riders participate in the AHJA and USEF shows.
